This song was written with Richmond Elementary 4th graders in Stillwater, OK during a Monty Harper residency in the spring semester 2013. They were inspired by a visit from the Oklahoma City Zoo during which we met a salamander in person.

What a surprise I found instead
A little blue critter with round white spots
His bulgy eyes and funny grin
Made him look like a friendly guy
His long skinny body was bent like an S
That's why I named him Si
