about

This song was created during a Monty Harper songwriting residency at Washington Elementary School in Norman, Oklahoma, May 2014.

lyrics

I used to be able to climb up on my shelf
But now if I try it I tip it on myself
I used to be able to play with baby toys
But now if I try it I cannot stand the noise

It's impossible to stay a kid forever
It's impossible to never grow up
It's impossible to not be bigger better bolder
When you get a little older every day

I used to get angry when my brother fussed and cried
But now if he's hurt I'll be right there by his side
When we were little we never got along
Now I like to teach him how to sing a silly silly song

It's impossible to stay a kid forever
It's impossible to never grow up
It's impossible to not be bigger better bolder
When you get a little older every day
