about

This is the spoken introduction to a song that was created during a Monty Harper songwriting residency at Will Rogers Elementary School in Stillwater, Oklahoma in February 2013.

lyrics

Student 1- Okay, okay. Trash Monsters, talking trash, begging to be recycled. Come on guys really what’s the point?

Student 2- Well everything is connected and we have to do our part to help keep things healthy.

Student 3- For example, if we recycle paper then less tress are being cut down to make new paper. Having more trees helps cut down the amount of Carbon that is in the air because trees use Carbon for energy. As a result trees then release Oxygen into the air, which we need to survive.

Student 1- It's kinda like a Karma thing.

Student 2- Karma? What is that?

Student 3- It’s the idea that if you do good things then good things will happen to you and if you do bad things then bad things will happen to you.

Student 2- Oh. So you all are telling me that choosing to recycle or not has a kind of Curbside Karma effect on the Earth.
