This song was created during a Monty Harper songwriting residency at Skyline Elementary School in Stillwater, Oklahoma in May 2013.

lyrics

We are the class of 2020
We got the brains and we got plenty
We were born in a lucky time
Our future tech will blow your mind

I'm gonna buy me a ticket to outer space
Gonna leave Earth real soon
I wanna float around in zero G
In a hotel on the moon
Then I'll fly to Mars for souvenirs
I'll get rocks and stones from there
Maybe I'll collect some shooting stars
Or alien underwear

We are the class of 2020
We got the brains and we got plenty
We were born in a lucky time
Our future tech will blow your mind

We’re growing up in a gadget world
With smarter and smarter phones
Someday every one of us
Will have a robot assistant for our own
Hoverboards will hover around the world
Jet packs will take us far
We’ll get rid of all the Fords on the road
And fly around in flying cars

We are the class of 2020
We got the brains and we got plenty
We were born in a lucky time
Our future tech will blow your mind

Pizza will be the healthiest meal
And put us in a happy mood
We’ll never have cook a thing for ourselves
We’ll 3-D print our food
We’ll grow our veggies in the middle of the city
Where everybody can get some
Snacks from the sky will fall in our hands
We’ll be chewing everlasting gum

We are the class of 2020
We got the brains and we got plenty
We were born in a lucky time
Our future tech will blow your mind
