Student 1- Did you know that the Stillwater Landfill takes in about 300 tons of trash per day? Student 2- That weighs about the same as one of the cranes that is being used to build our new school. That is like throwing away a crane every day! Student 3- Another interesting fact is that the tallest point of the Stillwater landfill is 100ft high. Student 2- What would happen if that hill came to life and started to attack? Student 1- In a way the hill already has started to attack. Birds and other animals use the landfill as their main source of food rather than looking for natural foods sources. Also the almost constant 20 mile per hour winds on top of the hill carry trash away from the landfill and that trash ends up littering other places. The landfill does what they can by putting up fences but they can’t catch it all. Student 3- And just think, our landfill isn’t the only one out there. In Oklahoma City they have four landfills that take in about 2000 tons of trash each day each. That is like throwing away 26 cranes each day! Student 1- Wow! Mother Nature better watch out for that Trash Monster!
2.
Trash Monster grew from trash Things we all threw away Trash Monster towers 110 feet high! Trash Monster hurts the Earth With heat, floods, famines and storms Trash Monster makes us sick and he needs to die! Mother Nature’s in trouble Trash Monster’s a curse Everybody recycle Or it’s gonna get worse Trash Monster grows and grows Every time we feed him trash Plastic bags, bottles, and cans are at his command! Mother Nature’s on the run From Trash Monster’s evil plan It’s a trash tornado and it’s filling up the oceans and land! Mother Nature’s in trouble Trash Monster’s a curse Everybody recycle Or it’s gonna get worse Kids know whenever we throw out less trash And we recycle instead Trash Monster shrinks just a little bit more Together we’ll recycle him dead! Mother Nature’s in trouble Trash Monster’s a curse Everybody recycle Or it’s gonna get worse Everybody recycle Or it’s gonna get worse Trash Monster’s a curse
3.
Student 1- How can we help Mother Nature defeat the Trash Monster? Student 2- Well the last class told us we need to recycle. Student 3- What is recycling? Student 1- Recycling is when you take materials that you would otherwise throw away and then turn them into new products. Student 2- Yeah like paper, aluminum, tin… Hey just listen to this song for some ideas on what not to trash.
4.
I'm Tim the Tin Can I've been in the bin I've been recycled And I can be again People love me All over the country Please never trash me Turn me into more of me I'm The Paper Man, yo There's something you should know I'm made out of paper From my head to my toe I've got something to say, see When you recycle me You'll be a hero You'll save another tree We’re so legit You can’t trash this We just won’t quit You can’t trash this We take no abuse You can’t trash this We still have use You can’t trash this We're the trash that's sassing back Don’t you put us in a garbage sack WORD I’m Aluminum Al I’m a metal man My head was made From an aluminum can It took energy To dig me from the Earth So recycle me now And respect my worth My name is Plastic Polly I hold your soda pop Plastic lives forever It just won’t stop So if you like to party Don’t throw me away Get all your plastic bottles And recycle them today We’re so legit You can’t trash this We just won’t quit You can’t trash this We take no abuse You can’t trash this We still have use You can’t trash this We're the trash that's sassing back Don’t you put us in a garbage sack WORD I'm Cardboard Karl I'm stiff and flat I delivered your pizza How'd you like that? Now I wanna be recycled Don’t make me pout It stinks in the landfill Help me out! My name is Glass Guy I'm sharper than my brothers I don't mix well I don't get along with others So take me to the center If you have a heart But never put glass In your curbside cart We’re so legit You can’t trash this We just won’t quit You can’t trash this We take no abuse You can’t trash this We still have use You can’t trash this We're the trash that's sassing back Don’t you put us in a garbage sack WORD
5.
Student 1- Okay, okay. Trash Monsters, talking trash, begging to be recycled. Come on guys really what’s the point? Student 2- Well everything is connected and we have to do our part to help keep things healthy. Student 3- For example, if we recycle paper then less tress are being cut down to make new paper. Having more trees helps cut down the amount of Carbon that is in the air because trees use Carbon for energy. As a result trees then release Oxygen into the air, which we need to survive. Student 1- It's kinda like a Karma thing. Student 2- Karma? What is that? Student 3- It’s the idea that if you do good things then good things will happen to you and if you do bad things then bad things will happen to you. Student 2- Oh. So you all are telling me that choosing to recycle or not has a kind of Curbside Karma effect on the Earth.
6.
If we don't recycle, the landfill will go viral The ocean will become a big mess At times we seem oblivious, but it’s really obvious We all need to throw away less Curbside Karma Learning to be concerned Curbside Karma Whatever we put out there gets returned To slow down global warming, recycle every morning It’s the easy way to do what’s smart Soon we will be clappin’, cause better things will happen When you fill up your recycling cart Curbside Karma Learning to be concerned Curbside Karma Whatever we put out there gets returned You better get ready! Can you hear that sound? They’re coming now to empty your cart! Never forget what goes around Comes around Trees give us oxygen, so does the ocean And we ought to know how much that’s worth Throw your trash away, and you’re speeding up decay So start recycling for the good of the Earth Curbside Karma Learning to be concerned Curbside Karma Whatever we put out there gets returned

Student 1- I want good things to happen. So what do I need to do? Student 2- Well a good place to start is to recycle what you can. Student 3- Yeah the less trash we have out there the better it is for the environment. Student 1- I am not sure where to start. Is there a certain way you have to recycle? Is it easy? Student 2- Recycling can be done in lots of different ways. Different communities and families have various ways to manage their recycling. Some sort it all out and take it to drop off points, some only recycle certain items like paper, and some, like Stillwater, will have curbside pick-up. Student 3- It doesn’t matter how you do it. The important thing is to find your own Recycle Style.
8.
Recycle Style Recycle Style If you start recycling It would be fantastic Let's recycle paper Aluminum and plastic I heard it from my teacher Who heard it on the breeze If you recycle cardboard You save a lot of trees Go go go go go - Go recycle style Go go go go go - Go recycle style This song is so classic So listen to the beat While you fill your cart up And put it on the street If we don't recycle We will be in trouble Better get your cart now Do it on the double We---- recycle paper We---- recycle plastic We---- recycle everything We---- feel fantastic! Go go go go go - Go recycle style Go go go go go - Go recycle style Feel the wrath of nature When we make a mess What will make it better Oh, you better guess Better be recycling Better not be trashing Go protect our planet Or it will send us crashing Go go go go go - Go recycle style Go go go go go - Go recycle style
9.
Student 1- I want to recycle but it is sooooo hard! Student 2- What is hard about it? Student 1- Well the way we do it now is I have to sort through everything myself and make sure it is separated correctly. Then I have to find time to take it to the drop off center. Usually I forget to pack it in the car so then what happens is all the recyclables pile up in my garage to the point where I can’t even pick my bins up anymore because they are so heavy. Most of the time I just end up throwing most of it away. Student 2- Have you heard about Stillwater’s new curbside recycling program? Student 1- No, I haven’t. Student 2- They have made it easier. You just throw everything, well except glass, into the recycle cart and the city will pick it up at the curb. Student 1- Wow this new program makes curbside recycling actually sound fun!
10.
It used to be hard to recycle You had to fill boxes with bottles and jars Your house would turn into a landfill Then you would shove all that stuff in your car But curbside recycling is easy Easy easy easy as counting to one Thanks to the cart with the yellow top Curbside recycling is fun fun fun Now it's a breeze to recycle They pick it up so you can chillax Just mix your recycling in one big cart And wheel it to the curb along with your trash Curbside recycling is easy Easy easy easy as counting to one Thanks to the cart with the yellow top Curbside recycling is fun fun fun We want a clean healthy future Don't fail us now, Moms and Dads! If you don't sign up to recycle We kids have a right to get mad mad mad Cause curbside recycling is easy Easy easy easy as counting to one Thanks to the cart with the yellow top Curbside recycling is fun fun fun Curbside recycling is fun… fun... Fun!
11.
Student 1- Wow recycling sounds fun! Student 2- Yeah, less trash, a cleaner Earth, and easy Recycling! This makes me want to celebrate! Student 3- Party Time! Student 1- We just need to remember one thing when the party is over. Student 2- What’s that? Student 3- To Recycle the Party!
12.
The party is over, It's cleanup time again Don't throw it in the trash, Use your recycling bin You should listen, To what I have to say Do the right thing, Don't throw that stuff away Recycle the party Recycle, uh uh, recycle, oh yeah Recycle the party Paper plastic aluminum cans Recycle the party Recycle, uh uh, recycle, oh yeah Recycle the party Empty pop bottles and bean dip cans Don't fill the landfill, Don't hurt the birds Don't waste our resources, Listen to my words When you're hangin’ with your homies, You can have a lot of fun But you gotta recycle, When the party is done Recycle the party Recycle, uh uh, recycle, oh yeah Recycle the party Paper plastic aluminum cans Recycle the party Recycle, uh uh, recycle, oh yeah Recycle the party Empty pop bottles and bean dip cans How many parties must be recycled Before we save the planet? Every single party must be recycled We’ve got to make it a habit - A habit for life A habit for life It's fun to recycle, It's the circle of trash It's the right way to go, With your after party bash Get your red solo cups, Get your brown paper sacks Get your soda pop bottles, And your pizza box stacks, And... Recycle the party Recycle, uh uh, recycle, oh yeah Recycle the party Paper plastic aluminum cans Recycle the party Recycle, uh uh, recycle, oh yeah Recycle the party Empty pop bottles and bean dip cans Recycle the party Oh, yeah!
