Mutiny
02:26
|
|||
We sailed in the Discovery
In 1610
Henry Hudson was the captain
Of two boys and twenty men
We sailed south of Greenland
Looking for Cathay
When the ocean started freezing
We got stuck in Hudson Bay
Where are we now? We are lost!
What should we do? Hudson should be tossed!
Put him on a shallop! Toss him to the sea!
We’re taking over the Discovery!
Mutiny!
Mutiny!
We’ve been sailing round in circles
And we need to re-supply
But crazy Henry Hudson
Doesn’t care if we all die
We must return to England
To see our families
And the only way to do it is
Mutiny!
Where are we now? We are lost!
What should we do? Hudson should be tossed!
Put him on a shallop! Toss him to the sea!
We’re taking over the Discovery!
Mutiny!
Mutiny!
We've had enough of Hudson, he's lost his grip
Knock him out, tie him up, throw him off the ship
Put him in the shallop with the rest of his kind
Raise up the sail, leave them all behind
Now we no longer need to roam
Good luck Henry Hudson we're free to go home
Mutiny!
Mutiny!
Mutiny!
Mutiny!

New Spain

Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me
It's only a two month boat trip
Sailing across the sea
Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me
Sparkling with gold and silver
It's a wonderful place to be
Come get an encomienda
You'll own your own piece of land
The natives will care for your cattle
The ranch that they build will be grand
New Spain is brimming with riches
The natives will work while you slack
They'll dig a mine for your silver and gold
And they hardly ever fight back
Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me
It's only a two month boat trip
Sailing across the sea
Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me
Sparkling with gold and silver
It's a wonderful place to be
Come be a priest in a mission
Think of the souls you can save
Converting the natives to Catholics
Teaching them how to behave
Come be a proud Spanish soldier
Stationed at St. Augustine
Native Timucuas will feed you
And keep your sword sparkling clean
Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me
It's only a two month boat trip
Sailing across the sea
Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me
Sparkling with gold and silver
It's a wonderful place to be
Ven a la nueva Espana
Come to New Spain with me

Rising Rebellion
02:37
|
|||
In the beginning we were fine fine fine
Then came the Spanish saying mine mine mine
They took away religion; they took away our fun
They took away everything, all the work we had done
They’re forcing us to change at every turn turn turn
They took all our Kachinas and they burn burn burn
They make us take communion; they make us praise the Pope
Without our own religion we are losing hope
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rebellion
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rebellion
They say Encomiendas give the right right right
To control Pueblo people, but we’ll fight fight fight
Spanish Peninsulares make us work all day
But maybe we don’t have to obey
Popé is our leader he says wait no more
He’s telling the pueblo people about war war war
We’re gathering our weapons, preparing for attack
We’re going to take our freedom back
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rebellion
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rebellion
In the beginning we were fine fine fine
Then came the Spanish saying mine mine mine
They took away religion; they made us sing their song
Very soon they’re gonna be gone
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rising rebellion
What-o what-o rebellion

Roanoke
02:53
|

In 1587 John White and his daughter
And 115 colonists sailed across the water
To Roanoke Island on the New World shore
They expected help, but the natives made war
They planted their corn and a baby was born
They named her Virginia Dare !
Roanoke
Roanoke
Mystery of the lost colony
Roanoke
They needed some assistance; food was running low
The colonists insisted John White should go
He left his daughter and her baby there
And he sailed for England with a hope and a prayer
That he’d make good speed and soon succeed
To save his colony
Roanoke
Roanoke
Mystery of the lost colony
Roanoke
John White had some trouble finding ships and men
Still he was persistent; he tried and tried again
Warfare and pirates kept him away
It wasn’t till his granddaughter’s third birthday
When he finally felt grand for his boat hit land
On the Island of Roanoke
Roanoke
Roanoke
Mystery of the lost colony
Roanoke
But there was no one there to greet him; no one there at all
Just the word Croatoan carved into the wall
No sign of struggle, no sign of attack
Then a hurricane sent poor John White back
Virginia and her mother and 115 others
Were never seen again!
Roanoke
Roanoke
Mystery of the lost colony
Roanoke
Ohhhhh
